UYO—As the battle for the 2019 general election continues to gather momentum, stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have urged Governor Udom Emmanuel to replace his deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo, as his running mate, if he wants to get the support of Abak people and the five local government areas popularly known as Abak Five.

It was gathered that loyalists of the deputy governor have already prepared a communiqué with a pledge to give juicy contracts and cash in a bid to arm twist elders in the area to sign the prepared communiqué asking the governor to re-adopt him for the second term.

An elder of the area, Chief Umoabasi, said: “The deputy governor was imposed on us by the former governor which explains his inability to touch the lives of the people positively. So, rather than make Mr. Ekpo the running mate in 2019, another indigene of Abak who has the interest of Abak people at heart should be given the opportunity.”
