APC chieftain murdered in Imo

OWERRI—A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, identified as Ifeanyi Ozoemena, has been murdered in Ngor Okpala local council area of Imo State, by unidentified gunmen, said to have operated in a sports utility vehicle, SUV.

Vanguard gathered that the deceased was the APC chairman of Logara/Umuohiagu Ward and was murdered Tuesday night by suspected political thugs.

Vice chairman of Logara Development Union, LDU, Chief Martin Opara confirmed the incident, saying that “the community is shocked and has never witnessed this type of political killing before.”

He urged security agencies to fish out Ozoemena’s killers without any delay.

Opara said that the Eze-in-Council, in conjunction with the community’s town union had met and sent a delegation to Divisional Police Officer, DPO, requesting that the masterminds should be arrested without delay.

“This killing is strange to our community. We have met with the Eze-in-Council and have sent a delegation to the DPO requesting that the killers be arrested immediately,” he said.

When contacted, the State Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Dasuki Galadanchi confirmed the killing, pointing out that the police had evacuated the corpse.

According to Galadanchi, “the gunmen who killed the APC chieftain operated in an SUV jeep, stressing that “investigation is on.

“We have visited the crime scene and we have evacuated the corpse. We have done the preliminary investigations, including taking of photographs.”
