In what appears to be a moralebooster, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state lauded the commitment of Gombe Bulls basket ball team for securing intercontinental ticket in the just concluded Kwese Premier Basketball League Final 8 Championship in Kano.

The state governor also pledged a piece of land to the players and their technical crew for making Gombe state proud in the championship calling on renown entrepreneurs in the state to compliment government effort by investing in the club for maximum productivity.

“Today we are celebrating our darling team (Gombe Bulls) for making Gombe state proud in one of the internationally recognized games in the world. To emerge 2nd in the championship contested by many teams across the country indeed calls for celebration. In the past the team made series of effort to secure the continental ticket but could not make it until this time around. To this end Gombe state government and the entire Gombawa are pleased with this gigantic effort of our unrelenting players and their management, “ said Gov Dankwambo.

While sports loving stakeholders in Gombe were mourning the Gombe United Football Club’s relegation from the elite league, the NPFL, suddenly this good news came to me that Gombe Bulls secured an intercontinental ticket in the nation’s basket ball apex championship held in Kano. This news indeed brought a sigh of relief to all of us,” the governor stated.

The state chief executive pledged adequate support to the club in the forthcoming continental championship assuring his readiness to attend one or two of the matches to be played when the time comes, as he reiterated his government’s commitment to support the club in all aspects urging more companies and other well meaning entrepreneurs to showcase their services using the club’s jerseys.

The governor expressed gratitude to the club management team, officials of the Gombe state sports commission and Gombe Bulls supporters club for their key roles in bringing the club to where it is today.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of the N15 million cheque won by the club as runners-up as well as decorating the state governor with a silver medal by the Team captain, Yakubu Sylvanus Mamaki.

In their respective remarks, the chairman state sports commission Alhaji Bello Suleiman and the Team’s captain Yakubu Sylvanus Mamaki thanked Gombe state government for identifying with the team and urged that players welfare and well being be sustained.
