YENAGOA—ELDERS of Bayelsa State and leaders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State converged on Aleibiri in Ekeremor council where they applauded Governor Seriake Dickson-led government for the ongoing construction of Sagbama/Ekeremor coastal road.

The leaders under Bayelsa West senatorial district PDP caucus and stakeholders, who were on a solidarity and inspection tour of Sagbama-Ekeremor road project at Aleibiri, stated that 50 years after the road was earmarked for construction by the Federal Government, the current administration had finally broken the jinx with the construction of the road, which had opened up and linked the area with other parts of the state.

Those who attended the solidarity and inspection tour of the project at Aleibiri community include, octogenarians HRM, Chief Anderson Eseimokumo, the Amananowei of Ebedebiri and former chairman of Niger Delta Basin Development Authority, NDBDA, Chief Thompson Okorotie, Chief Francis Doukpola, Air Vice Marshal Larry Koinyan (retd), former Deputy Governor, Chief Peremobowei Ebebi, local government chairmen, commissioners, political appointees and leaders from the area.

Chief Okorotie at the event, said: “The road is supposed to be a Federal Government trunk ‘A’ road that had been neglected over the decades. The restoration administration had taken a decision to construct these roads to access the hitherto neglected communities. We find in Governor Dickson, a leader of uncommon courage who had taken the bull by the horns.”

Duokopla, an elder statesman and chairman of Sagbama PDP restoration caucus, in his remarks, said Governor Dickson had proven to the world that with determination the Niger Delta terrain, which is tagged as a difficult one, can be developed.

He said: “What we are seeing today is something that has been regarded as mission impossible in the past.”
