Benue State will soon lift the embargo it placed on employment into the civil service.

In an interview with newsmen in Makurdi, the chairman, Benue State Civil Service Commission, Prof. Jerry Agada, noted serious gaps in the civil service created by retirement and death.

According to the former Minister of State for Education, between 2018 and 2019 alone, more than 936 persons retired, adding that the number was outside those who died or willingly resigned from the state government’s workforce.

Once the ongoing negotiation for the ₦30,000 minimum wage in the state is concluded and the governor gives definite instruction, the commission will begin mass recruitment into the state’s workforce, he added.
