Unions in the media industry have called on all key actors in Saturday’s governorship election in the state to play the game by the rule in order to enhance peaceful exercise.INEC ready for Ekiti election
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Union( RATTAWU) Nigeria Association of women Journalists (NAWOJ ) made this known while addressing a joint press conference ahead of the election in Ado Ekiti.
Speaking on behalf of the media executives, the NUJ chairman in Ekiti State, Rotimi Ojomoyela called on the security agencies to work within the rule of the engagement and avoid every acts that could jeopardize the smooth conduct of the election.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC ) to make available sensitive and non-sensitive materials at the polling units on time so as to allay fear of uncertainty that could trigger unrest and breakdown of law and order.
The NUJ chairman urged political parties and their candidates to stop heating up the polity with speeches and actions that could bring confusion.
He thanked the National Democratic Institute (NDI ), United States Agency for International Development (USAID ), and the British Department for International Development (DFID) for their support to the Media Peace Day initiative .Related
