Southern Nigeria Peoples Mandate (SNPM), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has urged the Federal Government to adequately equip the country’s security agencies to enable them to meet the security challenges across the nation.

Mr Augustine Chukwudum, the President of SNPM, made the call on Wednesday in Enugu, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Chukwudum said government should adequately equip the security agencies so that they could contain the excesses of criminals who now operated at will across the nation.

He condemned the recent killings some states of the federation, including Rivers, Benue, Taraba, Kaduna State, Zamfara and Nasarawa State.

“We call on President Muhumadu Buhari to take strong action against the killer herdsmen and other criminals who kill human beings as if they are clearing weeds in the farm,’’ he said.

He further urged the River Government to disarm all criminals in the state who had been terrorising the residents.

“Let Gov.Nyesom Wike go after those criminals and retrieve all the weapons given to them by politicians.

“We are also calling on international and regional bodies to help the federal government in controlling the entry of small arms and light weapons into the country,’’ he added.
