The Kebbi State Government said that it has accommodated 70 Almajiris evacuated from Zaria in Kaduna State. Briefing newsmen yesterday in his office, Chairman of Suru Local Government, Alhaji Umar Maigandi Dakingari, said the government had received the Almajiris from the state from delegates from Kaduna State, adding: “After receiving them, we accommodated them at the Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, Suru and the COVID-19 committee tested all the evacuated children and found them negative, but put them on observation for two weeks.”

He warned parents to desist from sending their children to Islamic school far away from Kebbi State, noting that since the state government has provided for all such schools across the state, there was no reason why they should take their children far from home.

Meanwhile, Chairman, Governing Council of the state chapter of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Kaliel Aliyu Gidado, has described the Dakingari Permanent Orientation Camp as one of the best in the country.

Speaking, yesterday, during a visit to the camp, Gidado said the camp has good facilities, compared to the other states and was renovated recently to ensure that corps members enjoyed their orientation.

He said his visit was to see if the camp was fit to be used as an isolated centre for COVID-19 patients, as directed by the Federal Government through the director general of the scheme, who commended the state for supporting the scheme.

He urged the people in the area to support government’s policy in preventing the outbreak of Coronavirus in the state, noting: “I am going to talk to the governor about the preparedness of the camp clinic and what they need to make it a befitting isolation centre.”
