Accountant drags wife to court, seeking divorce for indecent dressing
A medical doctor has been arraigned before a Yola Chief Magistrate for allegedly raping a married woman. The doctor who owns a private clinic and also works at the Adamawa State Specialist Hospital, Yola, allegedly raped the woman in the course of medical checks in his private clinic.

The suspect, Dr. Phillips Duru, appeared in court yesterday, with the police prosecution specifying that the doctor perpetuated the act in the lab of his private clinic located near the state Specialist Hospital.

After preliminary hearing of the case, the presiding Magistrate, Aliyu Bawuro, adjourned further hearing to November 26.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, who spoke on the matter, said the plaintiff had reported the alleged rape, prompting the police to take it up.

“It is true. The matter was reported to the police through a complaint by the victim who said she and her husband visited the Specialist Hospital and met the doctor over a health challenge,” Nguroje said.

He added that the man was invited and then charged to court after due investigation.

MEANWHILE, an accountant, Rowland Ogunebo, yesterday dragged his wife, Blessing, before an Ile-Tuntun Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking divorce on grounds of indecent dressing and adultery. Ogunebo, who resides in Kasumu Estate, in Ibadan said: “I can no longer live with Blessing. She has no regard for any of my family members. She does not dress like a married and responsible housewife. She wears mini-skirts and other skimpy dresses.

“Whenever I ask her to change, she rains insults on me,” he said, alleging that Blessing is ill-tempered.

However, Blessing opposed the suit. ”I still love my husband because we have two children together. My husband hates the way I dress because he is not fashionable,” she said.

The President of the Court, Chief Henry Agbaje, adjourned the matter until December 3 for the couple to produce more evidence. He advised them not to do anything that would jeorpadise the case.
