lagos—THE Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, yesterday urged President Muhammadu Buhari led administration to adequately take charge of the nation security before it got out of hand, else Nigerians might be forced to resort self help to defend themselves.
It said President Buhari had failed as Minister of Petroleum the recent following the fuel crisis, saying, “he simply lacks the health, the capacity and the creativity to manage Nigeria’s biggest revenue resource.”
At a briefing in Lagos on the state of the nation, Frederick Fasehun, said armed Fulani militias today constituted the real threat to national unity, “with their rapacious evil campaigns throughout the length and breadth of Nigeria.
According to Fasehun, iinsecurity persisted through several sections of the country, however, “the systematic and recurring notoriety of killer herdsmen who days ago once more drew blood in Benue, Taraba, Kaduna and Adamawa states, where they slaughtered indigenes and farmers is unqualified.”
Fasehun described the incidence as a situation which “appears to be a case of organised ethnic cleansing against Northern Minorities and other Nigerian tribes by rampaging herdsmen and some other militia groups in the North. In the wake of this ugly genocides came the shameless and insensitive pronouncement by the government’s spokesman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, on no less a medium than the BBC, that the herdsmen were a lesser threat than the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.”
