Plateau govt flags off sales of subsidized fertilizer

PLATEAU State Governor Simon Lalong, yesterday, said he expected an improvement in the level of transparency in the distribution and sale of fertilizer for the 2018 farming season.

Governor Lalong stated this at the flag-off and sale of fertilizer for the 2018 cropping season in Dengi head-quarters of Kanam Local Government Area.

According to the governor, NPK and Uriah will be sold for N5,500 for a bag, as government has for the first time, purchased subsidized organic fertilizer for N4,500 a bag.

Lalong was quoted in a statement by the Commissioner, Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati.

“Extension staff have employed to carry out soil tests to determine the type and quality of soil needed for specific communities across the state,” he said.

“About 19,000 metric tons of fertilizer was purchased by the state government for distribution and sale in the 2018 farming season,” the governor added.
