Ten months ago, 37-year-old Paul Osajere Oviekhiri was full of life and managed a successful boutique in Ibusa community, Oshimili North Local Council of Delta State. But today, he lies on a private hospital bed in Asaba fighting for his life.

Oviekhiri needs N15m to undergo a kidney transplant, which is available in Nigeria or India.

According to him, he and his aged parents have been plunged into debts in their bid to sustain his bi-weekly dialysis regime. Due to low finances, he has had to cut his visits to the dialysis centre from twice weekly to just once.

He is appealing to public-spirited individuals, state government and corporate organisations to come to his aid and save his life. Lying on the bed with a bloated stomach, the prognosis are dire. He is weak and unable to complete a sentence but his will to live is unmistakable.

His words: “Please, I will appreciate it, if the Delta State government and well- meaning citizens can come to my aid in footing the huge financial burden on my family occasioned by my failing kidney. I have long closed down my boutique, which I operated in Ibusa. And my father, a retired federal civil servant, has spent his retirement package on me.”

Fortunately, kidney transplant services, according to the health care giver, are available in Abuja and Lagos. The public can donate to either of the bank account numbers: 1003784931, UBA, Jacob Ojo Ovbiekhiri 0753059952 or EcoBank Paul Osajere Oviekhiri.
