Gani Adams cherishes broadcaster’s iconic legacies
Former Governor Lucky Igbinedion of Edo State has described the late Chairman and founder of DAAR Communications Plc, Dr. Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, as a rare ambassador of the state, who committed his time and resources to the development of Edo in particular and Nigeria at large.

In a condolence message, yesterday, Igbinedion said the passing has created a huge vacuum in the Dokpesi and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) PDP families.

He recalled how the late business magnet deployed his time, energy and resources in the prosecution of the 2023 PDP Presidential Campaign, in which he was Deputy Director-General of the Technical and Systems Unit of the council.

While enjoining both the Dokpesi and PDP families to take solace in the achievements of the departed, especially in the areas of mass media/communications and job creation, Igbinedion said the late friend would be sorely missed.

He prayed God to grant repose to his soul and fortitude to the family and friends to bear the irreparable loss.

ALSO, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has said Dokpesi’s iconic legacies would subsist.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, Adam noted that the departed business tycoon and politician played his part by impacting the media world like a colossus, birthing the first private television and radio stations in Nigeria, Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower 100.5FM.

The Yoruba generalissimo added that the two stations became the first facilities to transmit to the United States.

“I received with rude shock the news of the death of one of our brilliant patriots and media tycoons, the late Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

“He was an accomplished and respected businessman, a pioneer in the media industry and a philanthropist, who dedicated his life to the service of this country and his community.

“The late Dokpesi’s legacies would surely live on through the impact he made on the lives of many.

“And I am sure Nigeria’s history would be kind to him, especially on the way he impacted the media world like a colossus.

“The late Dokpesi was a voice in the political milieu, very consistent in his political ideology and remained committed to the core values of life,” Adams said.
