Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has donated over 360 items, including computers, to selected public schools in Cross River State.
The items, according to the Managing Director of NPA, Mr. Muhammed Koko, were in partial fulfillment of the agency’s corporate social responsibility to her host communities.
Represented by the Calabar Port Manager of the agency, Mr. Festus Olumati, yesterday, in Calabar, Koko said the gesture was a way of addressing some of the challenges faced by the schools
He expressed optimism that the items would go a long way to enhance learning in the selected schools.
A breakdown of the items indicated shows 25 units of computer systems, 306 writing desks, and 30 bookshelves were distributed among 4 public schools in the catchment area.
The schools include Government Secondary School, Adiabo; Hope Waddel Training Institute; Government Secondary School, Henshaw town and Esuk Utan Primary School.
Speaking on behalf of other schools, the principal of Hope Waddel Institute, Mr. Okon Onoyom, said, said: “We appreciate you for thinking of supporting your host communities, most especially in the all important area of education.
“Choosing to touch secondary schools; every child will benefit from your magnanimity.”
