Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has urged Nigerians to embrace religious tolerance, which will promote peace across the country and enhance national development.
In his Sallah message signed by the special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, Wike felicitated with Nigerian Muslims on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to emulate the Holy Prophet Mohammed by imbibing the ideals of sacrifice exemplified by the Prophet.
He said Eid-el-Kabir is a season of love, peace, friendship and sacrifice and assured Rivers people that the state government will work with the security agencies to ensure that all citizens celebrate the Sallah in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
His Delta State counterpart, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, felicitated with Muslims in the country, as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir and urged them to emulate the Holy Prophet Mohammed by imbibing the ideals of sacrifice.x
He made the call in his Sallah message to the Muslims in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba.
He reminded the Islamic faithful that Eid-el-Kabir was a season of love, peace and sacrifice and called for concerted efforts among citizens for the nation to surmount challenges currently bogging it down.
BESIDES, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, who felicitated with Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urged them to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance and sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Mohammed.
He charged Muslims to use the period to deepen their relationship with Allah and pray for unity, peace and development of the state and the country.
To further demonstrate his goodwill, the state government paid July 2021 salaries and pension of workers and retirees, as part of the Obaseki-led administration’s commitment to their welfare.
ALSO, in his goodwill message, Cross River State Governor, Benedict Ayade admonished Muslims to imbibe the virtues of obedience, love, alms giving, honesty and sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Mohammed.
He stated this in his Sallah message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, saying: “More than ever before, our country needs collective will to surmount its challenges. So as people of faith, I charge you to be ready at all times to make the sacrifices necessary for the progress of our dear country.”
